Hello out there

I’m captivated by graffiti
Spray paint mural on alleyway brick
“Love letters only” scrawled on a mailbox
Monikers scratched on subway glass
Small recognition, anonymous infamy

Waiting for the bank teller
I scribble reflective messages on the counter
Spell out “hi” with a penny and pen chain
Tiny greeting to the outside world
Micro message to observant strangers
Faint broadcast signal
In search of kindred spirits.

This reminds me the opening scenes in Contact where young Ellie is sending out ham radio signals. :)

I've always thought about graffiti in that way, like we have a lot to learn about people from what they scrawl on walls (not all walls, and not all people). I can't for the life of me remember what historical site I was at a number of years ago, but there were rooms FILLED with graffiti due to neglect, and it was all written in little tiny handwriting, with names and dates and couple's hearts and what all, from floor to ceiling. I felt like I was at NASA there was so much information in that room. I wish I could remember where I was...
